Pomeranian Dad Shirts

Men who own a Pomeranian get the same look on every walk: a big guy and a dog the size of a loaf of bread. The American Kennel Club standard puts the Pom at 3 to 7 pounds in the Toy Group, but the breed comes from the Spitz family, the thick-coated northern dogs with pointed ears and a tail curled over the back that pulled sleds and herded in cold country. Breeders shrank the size and kept the rest: the wedge-shaped head, the fox ears, the double coat that stands off the body and the alert watchdog voice that announces every visitor. Owners will tell you their Pom still thinks it is a sled dog.

Do these shirts say Pomeranian dad?

No. They are original Pomeranian designs picked for the man who lives with one: Spitz pride, museum and anatomy studies, black and white film posters and vintage travel art. None of them is on our funny Pomeranian or Pomeranian mom pages, so you can mix designs from all three.

Is a Pomeranian shirt too cute for a guy?

Not these. We left out the pink and the sparkle and kept the designs that treat the Pom like a serious subject, drawn in sepia, black and white or bold modernist shapes. Most come in Apricot, Coffee and Gray; Orbital Pom comes in Army Green, Black and Royal Blue.
